What Does a Basic Eye Exam Do?

One of the main things that happen when people come in for a regular checkup with eye doctors in Miami is an exam. While a conversation about eye health and family history is likely going to happen, the exam is the main aspect of the appointment. During the exam, your Miami eye doctor is going to inspect several parts of your eye in order to determine your overall optical health. They will be looking for anything that seems out of place, anything that you have concerns about, and any aspects of your eye that should be inspected based on family eye health history. If your family has a history of glaucoma, then your eye doctor will make sure to check the internal pressure of your eyes on every visit.

What Will Happen During a Basic Eye Exam

During a standard eye exam, your Miami optometrist is going to ask you a lot of questions about your vision and eyes. They will also likely dilate your pupils so they can examine the internal structures of your eyes.

Preparing For a Basic Eye Exam

You won’t be able to drive yourself because having dilated pupils is dangerous to your eye health. Too much light will be entering them after they have been dilated, which can be damaging and cause you to react abnormally to sunlight.
